Untitled

This was my favourite image from the photoshoot.  I’m glad I managed to create a completely white background with minimal flare.  I first used a softbox to mimic the diffused light in the tram.  However, I felt it wasn’t directional enough so I decided to use a spill kill with barn doors attatched.

I think this image is appropriate to the music based film I was going for.  Upon reflection, I wish the light was slightly softer to closer match the background image.  In post production I have moved my model and adjusted the colours to coordinate with my background image.

I was inspired by the cover of A Beautiful Mind to create an abstract background.  The background is blurred, but a figure is still distinguishable.  I decided to go to the West End of Glasgow to materialize my idea.  After not taking any photos I was completely happy with, I was lucky enough to have snapped this photo on the subway back.  I tried to use a shallow depth of field to recreate the blurred effect, but I found I had most control of it if I reproduced this in post production.

Having decided to use this as my background image, I had an idea to base my film on music as subway rides are synonymous with listening to music.

Another example of a natural light image without and with a golden reflector.  This time I prefer the image without a reflector.

Another one without a flag using natural window light.

Without a flag on the left and with on the right.  I like the one with the flag as it creates a dramatic shadow.

Taken during sunset, I used a reflector to help direct the remaining light onto the model.

I used different reflectors in these images.  The first is without a reflector, the second is with a gold reflector, and the last is with a white one.  I think the white reflector has improved on the image without a reflector, but I feel the golden one is too strong.
